The history of the hotel dates back to more than hundred years. The idea of building the 3-star Hotel Erzsebet in the heart of the city came up in 1867 at first- when new multi-storied palaces and boulevards began to be built in the place of small-old houses and narrow overcrowded streets.Hotel Erzsebet was opened in 1873- the year when Budapest- Hungaryss capital was born by the union of three small villages- Pest-Buda and Obuda -Old Buda-. The small hotel was named with her permission after Sissi- Queen Elizabeth -Erzsebet- the wife of Emperor Francis Joseph- ruling the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy at that time.
